2017 Running Journey

Running. It’s something that gives me something to work towards, to push for, to aim high and to get results. I like a good challenge, and this year I’m aiming to do 1000 kilometres overall. I’m also aiming for at least 8 races this year, and I figured this would be a good place to document all my races and my achievements in running throughout 2017.

5th February, Blackburn Winter Warmer 10k

Blackburn Winter Warmer 10k - 01:00:03

The Blackburn Winter Warmer 10k took place on the 5th February, my 24th birthday. I’d wanted to do a race on my birthday for so long, and as my birthday was on a Sunday this year I just had to take advantage of that.

This 10km was tough. We started with a 3km uphill climb and I honestly didn’t think I was doing very well with my timing but I kept pushing and I actually managed to get a PB! So close on the sub-60 though…

Overall I really enjoyed this one and I’m glad it was my first of the year. It has shown me that I do have it in me to get faster, and on my next 10k I’ll be hitting that sub-60. The course is WAY flatter so I have no excuse.
